Johan Roos earned his PhD in International Business from Stockholm School of Economics. From 2009 to March 2011 he served as the President of Copenhagen Business School, where he led a major strategic change effort. Prior to his engagement at CBS, he held the Bo Rydin Professorship in strategy at the Stockholm School of Economics.
“JIBS mission is to be ‘international at heart and entrepreneurial in mind.’ So am I, so I think there is a wonderful match between us. What JIBS has achieved in just a few decades is more than impressive. I have worked in different countries and in different kind of organizations and I hope to contribute that experience as we seize the opportunities and deal with challenges facing JIBS. It will be a real privilege to help guide this amazing business school even further,” says Johan Roos.
Johan Roos has two decades of experience from outside Sweden. He has served as faculty member of the Norwegian School of Management (BI) in Oslo and International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne. For six years he was the Managing Director of Imagination Lab Foundation, a non-profit Swiss research organization, where he remains on the Board.
After hearing the Presiding Committee of the JIBS Research Faculty Board, Dean Agneta Bladh has appointed Johan Roos as professor in Business Administration focused on Strategy at JIBS. His research, teaching and consulting for the last two decades has focused on strategic and leadership processes in alliance formation, knowledge management and in strategy making.
“I greet Johan Roos welcome to JIBS. From the beginning, it was clear both to me and to JIBS that I was a temporary Dean, while recruiting a permanent Dean. This temporary situation has lasted one year. At the end of my academic career, I have had the opportunity to come to know JIBS as an engaging, stimulating and very international place. The profile of JIBS suites Johan Roos perfectly with his international and entrepreneurial background,” says Agneta Bladh.
