A Nordic School of Public Health evaluation of the mass vaccination in Region Västra Götaland shows that while the system as a whole delivered under pressure, a number of improvements can be made in the public information area.

– The health and medical care services were showered with unsorted information from national, regional and local levels. Our suggestion is that a vaccination manual be marketed as the primary source of information for the health and medical care services, says Lars Edgren, one of evaluation report authors.

The report furthermore highlights the central function of the Medical Advice Line in relieving pressure on emergency care services, as well the importance of regional level information officers working independently as experts towards media and coordinating their message towards local levels.
