By announcing the Nordic Public Health Award, the Nordic Council of Ministers and the Nordic School of Public Health, NHV, want to acknowledge important efforts aiming at the improvement of population health and wellbeing in the Nordic countries. This encompasses social, physical and psychological conditions in our environment, factors that affect lifestyle, and also health systems and their working methods.

The prize will be awarded to an individual, organization or institution, who contributes significantly either in one Nordic country, which can then constitute a positive example for other Nordic countries, or throughout the whole region. The award consists of SEK 50 000 and a diploma. The recipient is also invited to give a lecture at the Nordic School of Public Health in Gothenburg, Sweden.
