World’s Largest Regional Science Congress to be held at Jönköping International Business School

This year’s ERSA congress theme is “Regional Growth and Development in the Creative Knowledge Economy”. JIBS scientists are at the forefront of this subject and worldly renowned.

– It’s very positive for JIBS to be hosting this congress. The solid program, with 232 parallel sessions, really shows the size of the congress and places both JIBS and Jönköping on the world map, says Hans Westlund, Professor in Entrepreneurship at JIBS and in charge of arranging the congress.

Among the speakers we find Nobel prize winner Professor Paul Krugman as well as other well-known international scientists such as Professor Annalee Saxenian, Professor Fabrizio Barca and Professor Philip McCann. The congress will be opened by the Swedish Minister for Higher Education and Research Tobias Krantz.

This assembly is the 50th Anniversary ERSA (European Regional Science Association) congress. ERSA has some 3 500 members, both academics, policy professionals and researchers interested, in 17 active associations across Europe. ERSA is one of the 3 supra-regional associations of RSAI (Regional Science Association International).
